LISA ARTERTON
The Unbroken Mother

About Lisa -
The Unbroken Mother
I’m Lisa Arterton — therapist, survivor, mother, and the voice behind
The Unbroken Mothe & #Imhere movement.
For years, I lived under coercive control, post separation abuse, court weaponisation and the kind of fear that seeps into every corner of motherhood.
I raised my daughter through shaking hands, solicitor’s letters, endless threats and a justice system that never saw the truth.
I learned how to parent while terrified.
I learned how to stay silent to keep my child safe.
And I learned how deeply the system fails the very women it expects to “stay strong.”
I never spoke about it publicly - until recently.
And when I finally did, women from all over the world began whispering the same thing:
“Lisa…I thought it was only me.”
That’s when I realised this isn’t a personal story.
This is a global epidemic of hidden abuse - lived in silence, punished by systems, carried by mothers who blame themselves for surviving.
Today, my work centres around one mission:
To support, strengthen, guide & empower the mothers living the battle I once lived and to give their children the safe parent they deserve.
I work with women navigating:
coercive control
post separation abuse
court manipulation
parental alienation
trauma responses they don’t recognise in themselves
the invisible emotional load of “protecting the child”
rebuilding themselves after years of silence
parenting through fear
breaking generational patterns
reconnecting with their truth, safety & strength again
My approach is calm, nurturing, trauma informed and grounded in lived experience -
not textbook theory.
Women work with me because I don’t minimise what they’ve survived.
I don’t question their reality.
And I don’t tell them to “just stay strong.”
I teach them how to steady their nervous system, find clarity again, stop carrying the guilt that never belonged to them and support their children without losing themselves in survival.
Whether it’s through private 1:1 work or inside The Unbroken Mother community -
my role is simple:
To walk beside the women who’ve been walking alone for far too long.
To give them language for the chaos.
To help them find themselves again.
And to remind them that they are not broken -
they are unbroken, even when they feel anything but.
If you’ve found your way here, you are not alone anymore.
Welcome
Lisa. x
I support women surviving the kind of abuse most people will never see.
My work exists for the mothers who are shaken, silenced and dismissed -
the ones navigating coercive control, post separation abuse, court weaponisation,
fear, confusion and the daily pressure to “keep the peace” while trying to
hold their children steady.

I do not offer free calls.
This is intentional.
It protects women from over exposure & protects the work from
becoming unsafe. If you'd like to explore support, please contact me via
the contact page & I'll let you know whats appropriate.
